IziNdlovu - Community Theatre Action, 17 May 2018, Thembisa, Johannesburg

IziNdlovu: Thokozani Ndaba, Refilwe Nkomo and Mark Rautenbach, is a collective of artists working for social and transformative change using the arts. We came together in 2017, at the Centre for Arts Activism Workshop and are working on workshops with communities to decriminalise sex work.

PILOT PROJECT IN THEMBISA 17 MAY 2018
We had been given a grant from the Centre for Artistic Activism  https://artisticactivism.org/ to pilot a workshop. Our workshop aims at taking an area of social concern and through artistic methods, draw awareness and transform limiting attitudes directly within the community. Our intention is that these community actions ripple out into the greater community and affect social change.Our pilot workshop in Thembisa on 17 May 2018, engaged with the prevailing cultural attitudes and social practices toward sex work. Our intention is to unpack these conventions, developing a strong a supportive case for the decriminalisation of sex work in South Africa.
